If you would like to avoid this charge you are very welcome to pay your allocated instructor on the day of your first lesson. Like all driving schools in the UK, the money you pay the instructor will be between you and them and we cannot protect your money against unforeseen circumstances the same as if you are paying us. If you choose to pay your instructor on the day by cash then your Warden Hill instructor will issue you with a receipt if you ask for one.
Covering Hertfordshire & North London
From our Bedfordshire base we teach learners right across Hertfordshire and into North London. Areas we regularly cover include St Albans, Harpenden, Hatfield, Hemel Hempstead, Watford, Berkhamsted, Borehamwood and Radlett in Hertfordshire, and Barnet, Finchley, Edgware, Mill Hill, Hendon, Harrow and Wembley in North London. If you are not sure whether we cover your area, just ask.
Lessons that prepare you for real local roads
Our DVSA-approved instructors know the busy roads, junctions and test routes across the region. Whether you are learning on quieter residential streets or building confidence on faster A-roads and dual carriageways, every lesson is structured to broaden your experience so you are ready for independent driving — not just the test.
Driving lessons for every learner
Whatever stage you are at, we have a lesson plan to suit you:
- Beginner driving lessons — start from your very first time behind the wheel
- Automatic driving lessons — often quicker and easier to pass
- Intensive driving courses — pass in weeks, not months
- Pass Plus — build confidence and cut your insurance after you pass
- Re-test programme — structured help if you have taken your test before
- Under 17 Drive Plan — get a head start before your 17th birthday
- Special requirements lessons — tailored tuition for additional needs

Driving lessons in Hertfordshire & London — FAQs
Which areas do you cover in Hertfordshire and London?
We cover much of Hertfordshire — including St Albans, Harpenden, Hatfield, Hemel Hempstead, Watford, Berkhamsted, Borehamwood and Radlett — and North London areas such as Barnet, Finchley, Edgware, Mill Hill, Hendon, Harrow and Wembley. If your area is not listed, get in touch and we will let you know.
Do you offer automatic driving lessons?
Yes. We offer both manual and automatic tuition. A manual licence lets you drive both manual and automatic cars, while automatic lessons are often easier and quicker to pass — see our automatic lessons page. Use the switch above to compare prices.
Can I take an intensive course?
Yes. Our intensive driving courses condense your tuition into a short period, which suits confident learners who want to pass quickly. Get in touch to discuss availability in your area.
How long does it take to learn to drive?
The DVSA recommends around 45 hours of professional lessons plus 22 hours of private practice. Most learners take 3–6 months of weekly lessons, though an intensive course can compress this into a matter of weeks.
